What Is the Religious Background of the False Prophet?

We live in a society that values packaging over product, style over substance, expediency over truth. Down through the centuries many have debated who the False Prophet was. Obviously the finger-pointing is always outward when accusing someone of being the end time False Prophet who is destined to be such a helpful aide to the Beast.

However, both the Beast and the False Prophet are people who have known the truth of God early in their life and have rejected it.

How do we know this?

Because both the False Prophet and the Beast are thrown into the lake of fire.

"And the Beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone" (Revelation 19:20).

We know that both the Beast and the False Prophet knew the truth of God because the lake of fire is reserved for those who knew it -- and blew it. That is, they knew the truth of God and they rejected it.

The lake of fire is reserved for people who reject the sacrifice of Christ and reject truth from God even though they know better. Why will they do this? Bitterness. Bitterness is the seed of hatred.
