Who Are The Sons of God?

`

Question:

Who are the sons of God mentioned in Genesis chapter 6?

Answer:

There are many who believe that the "sons of God" who married the daughters of men (Genesis 6:2) were angels. Is this true?

There are times when angels are refered to as "sons of God" in the scripture (Job 1:6. 2:1 and 38:7). However, is that the case here?

No.

The sons of God mentioned in Genesis chapter 6 were not angels. How do we know this? We know this because angels do not marry (Matthew 22:30 and Mark 12:25). Since angels do not marry then they could not have married the women mentioned (the daughers of men) (Genesis 6:2).

Then who were the sons of God?

Seth was the third son born to Adam and Eve. The sons of God were the men born from the bloodline of Seth. The sons of men were the men born from the bloodline of Cain. The daughters of God were the women born from the bloodline of Seth. The daughters of men were the women born from the bloodline of Cain.

The sons of God (righteous men from the line of Seth) married the daughters of men (unrighteous women from the line of cain). What was the result?

The result was great wickedness (Genesis 6:5). Then, as now, the result of a believer marrying a unbeliever is negative.

If you are a believer then you should not be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14). The result is negative.
