What Is The Corner Stone?
The Stone, which the builders rejected, has become the head of the corner (Psalms 118:22, Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10, Luke 20:17, Isaiah 28:16). Who are the builders in this parable? It is religious leaders. They are the people who are supposed to be building. For example there were rulers, elders and scribes (Acts 4:5) who were addressed when Peter said, "...you builders...."
By the same token many religious leaders in today's world reject Christ. They do this directly, either by rejecting his existence or by rejecting his resurrection. Some reject Christ by rejecting the message He brought, the gospel of the kingdom of God.
The stone which became the head of the corner is Christ (Acts 4:10-11).
"This is the stone, which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner" (Acts 4:11). These rulers, elders, and scribes should have been builders of the temple of God. But instead they see the Stone, Christ, as unworthy of being a part of the temple. But by rejecting the Stone, they are without a temple. Christ is the chief corner stone and without Christ they have no temple.
Concerning the Children of Israel after coming out of Egypt, they drank the same spiritual drink, for they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4).
Where is the church? Where is the Temple?
If your have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, then you ARE the temple (1 Corinthians 3:16). If you are a converted Christian then you are one of the lively stones of the temple of God (1 Peter 2:5). And Christ is the chief corner stone of the temple (1 Peter 2:7-10), Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).
