THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES
The Feast of Tabernacles is a key celebration day that shows
us a major part of the plan of God.
What good is salvation if there is no reward? As children most
of us were taught "good people go to heaven when they die and
bad people go to hell when they die." However, the Bible
speaks of a resurrection from the dead. In the words of
William Tyndale, "If souls be in heaven, what need have they
of a resurrection?"
The reward for a faithful Christian is so much greater than the
religious leaders have projected.
No, there is no Christian retirement in heaven, living a life
of idleness. The reward for being a faithful Christian is so
much more than that!
The Feast of Tabernacles pictures the beginning of that reward,
when Christ pitches his tent (tabernacle) to begin the
Kingdom of God on this planet.
This is a feast of in-gathering (Exodus 23:16, Exodus 34:22). It
it the large harvest, compared to the harvest of the first
fruits. It is a time when people who are called by God
live in temporary dwellings (booths) (Leviticus 23:42-43).
Just as God rested on the seventh day, so also will this planet
rest in the seventh period of 1000 years, having experienced
6000 years of man trying to rule himself.
One day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand
years as one day (2 Peter 3:8).
Satan will be forced into temporary retirement for 1000 years
(Revelation 20:2). During that 1000 years God's government will
be set up on this earth. The faithful Christians will be
ruling with Christ during this time (Revelation 20:4). It will
be a time of profound happiness, knowing that the work of
God will never be hindered again and perfection will come to
this planet.
Those who overcome will be given power over the nations
(Revelation 2:26). People will flow into the mountain of
the Lord's house, learning of God's ways, beating their
swords into plowshares, learning war no more (Micah 4:1-3).
"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold,
the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with
them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be
with them, and be their God" (Revelation 21:3).
All of the faithful will be protected in God's holy
mountain when the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:9).
The Feast of Tabernacles is a preview of God's planned Utopia
for this planet.
"And God shall wipe away all the tears from their eyes; and
there shall be no more death, neither sorror, nor crying,
neither shall ther be any more pain: for the former things
are passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
