What can behavior psychology be used for?
Behavior psychology can be used for just about any behavior you can think of. We, as humans, respond to rewards and we shy away from punishment. That is the essence of behavior psychology.
Behavior Control
Maintaining behavior control is a matter of balance between reward and punishment. Reward increases the incidents of behavior and punishment decreases the incidents of behavior. The persons whose conduct is being modified may receive reward and punishment from the same trainer.
Behavior Problems Can Be Solved
Solving behavior problems consists of knowing or finding out the function of the behavior (the motive) and figuring out a way in which the sequence of the problem behavior steps may be interrupted and/or providing a way for the individual to fulfill the motive without exhibiting the problem behavior.
